COS @ Des Plaines River 09/28/2008
The Illinois Valley Bassmasters
2008 Fall
COS Open On the Des Plaines River.
The Illinois Valley Bassmasters held their annual
fall open buddy tournament on The Des-Plaines River,
launching out of the Des-Plaines Conservation area.
The river had been flooded just weeks and days
before. The Tournament was on hold up until two days
before we were suppose to launch. The water level
lowered just a bit to make it safe for everyone, so
the event went on as planned. We had 18 team’s fish
even though the tournament was in doubt. We would
like to thank those anglers for participating in
what would turn out to be a great tournament.
Rich Newell and Kyle Goetsch from
The Illinois Valley Bassmasters took home a first
place COS victory, followed by Mark Fosterud
(boater) and Jeff Shinn (2nd place non-boater). Dave
Winnie, also from The Illinois Valley Bassmasters
won first place in the non-boater division.
Most fish were caught in
backwaters fishing a little deeper then usual, and
in most case’s while fishing around the shad that
migrated into the shallows. “It was a typical early
fall pattern” said Dave Winnie. “Follow the baitfish
and find the bass”.
We would like to thank everyone
who came out to fish, and also The Illinois Bass
Federation Nation for putting on another great year
for the IBFN COS Open Trail.
